The Global Indian Organisation (GIO) is deeply saddened by the devastating flash floods that struck communities along the Nepal–Tibet border on 26 August 2026. The disaster has caused widespread destruction, loss of life and displacement, while many people—including local residents and international visitors—remain unaccounted for.
The images and reports emerging from the affected areas are heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured or displaced, and all families awaiting news of missing relatives and friends.
GIO expresses its sincere appreciation to the rescue and emergency services, government authorities, medical personnel, volunteers and humanitarian
organisations working tirelessly under extremely difficult conditions.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal and all communities affected by this tragedy. May those in danger be brought to safety, may the injured recover, and may the missing be reunited with their loved ones.
